Makonde Armchair I

An upholstered armchair carved from a single piece of mahogany in the Makonde style. Closely interlinked figures cover the frame, each one part of a continuous story of community and identity. Made by a team of six under the late master carver Fharasisi Amblosi over more than twelve months. Height 100 cm · width 84 cm · 130 kg.
